Chapters Can Go Unexplained

Being an anxious individual means always seeking answers.

We obsess. We replay moments over and over. We torture ourselves. And for what, answers?

Do we even feel better when we do get answers? Not always.

It’s easy to think that if we get clarity, it’ll be easier to move past things that have happened – but in my experience, that’s not always necessarily true.

When my Grandad passed, two years ago now, I racked my brain constantly for answers as to why it had to be him, why that moment in time, why in that way? And I know i’ll never get those answers, but it’s so easy to dwell and think clarity might make the grieving process that little bit easier.

But I think the easiest way for me to move on, has been to acknowledge the anger, the confusion, and the guilt, and feel it. And really feel it. I don’t need the answers; they won’t help. They can’t turn back the clock, or stop it from happening. It happened, that’s reality, so now I have to focus on acceptance and moving on. Without the answers I seek.

But, there is no guilt in not wondering. Acceptance isn’t giving up, it’s the act of not torturing yourself.

Not everything can be, or needs to be, explained. Some things, you just have to let be.

So, stop rereading old messages. Stop searching for deeper meaning.

Learn to let things be, and learn to find peace in that.
