This post is mainly just an update from my previous post: ‘How Anxiety Affected Me’.
I recently came to realise that I ended the previous posts on my relationship with anxiety as rather negative. I was at a point where I was struggling to leave the house, find work, and I was beginning to implement some form of exposure therapy.
Now, I can gladly say, I made it out the house. More than once, too. I now happily get the train to London to see my partner, I’ve started attended the gym, and I even got myself a part-time job. To say I’m proud of myself would be an understatement.
How did I get there, you ask? To put it simply, I pushed myself, and I pushed myself hard. Now, I won’t deny it wasn’t difficult, because it was, I won’t lie to you. At the beginning, I was still very much in a position where I would anxious before ever leaving the house, and I’d often experience stress headaches as a result. But by taking one step at a time, I eventually got there.
I guess more than anything I want this update to serve as proof that no matter how bad your anxiety makes you feel, you can always overcome it.
I realise many individuals out there may experience anxiety in different forms than the way I have, and may struggle more so because of it – but the message pertains; we got this.
I would also like to add, that I wouldn’t have been able to get where I am without the support and patience of my partner and family. So, thank you. And if any readers in the same position I was – where you’re just mentally exhausted, just know it’s okay to reach out. Someone will always listen.
You got this.
